GST REGISTRATION IN
MAHARASHTRA
GST means goods and service tax. The government brings
GST for the reason that, after the GST registration in
Maharashtra, it will be easy for the general public to
submit and deposit their tax by themselves and they will not need to hire a
chartered accountant or a company secretary for filing their GST return.
According to the government, GST is paid by manufacturers, traders, and service
providers. There is a lot of confusion in the minds of the public because there
are lots of taxes that are imposed on them, and after the introduction of GST,
lots of taxes are merged into a single GST.
Now there is no existence of VAT (value-added Tax), CST
(central sales tax), Entry Tax, Local Body Taxes, Luxury tax, etc. Earlier,
before GST registration in Maharashtra came into existence, one of the biggest
demerits was that we had to pay multiple taxes on the same goods. Now it has
been removed.

to whom the GST registration in Maharashtra is required?
Every supplier is liable to be registered if
aggregate turnover in the financial year exceeds Rs 20 lakh (10 lakh for
special category states), but for some businesses, registration under the
goods and service tax new registration is mandatory. After getting

number Maharashtra (Goods & Services Taxpayer Identification Number). Among

numbers of the PAN number of the person or firm engaged in business.

of taking voluntary registration under GST:
A registered supplier Under GST, buyers can avail
of certain advantages that are not generally given to unregistered suppliers,
such as the ability to avail of input tax credit, Taxable invoices can only be
issued by businesses that are legally recognised under GST, so buyers can avail
of input tax credit when they purchase from such businesses, so most buyers
want to purchase goods from those suppliers who are registered under GST. A
registered supplier can avail input tax credit on purchase of inputs and can
also give credit to the person who buys Goods from him. And a Registered person
can also make interstate sale without any restriction.

or mandatory basis, because the consequences of non registration may cause
various losses and penalties, such as:
(a) Penalty of Rs. 10,000.

benefits given under the GST regime.
Other
aspects of GST:
GST provides a win-win situation for trading and
helps increase the wealth of the entire country. It brings benefits for all in
the industry, consumers, and government. It also helps to reduce the cost of
goods and services to give a boost to our country’s economy and make the
products and services globally competitive. Many central and state taxes into
one tax and reduces the ill effect of tax on tax, in other words, the cascading
effect of taxation.
